Dublin PARK(ing) Day 2014 - Friday 19th September

Dublin’s fourth PARK(ing) Day is taking place on Friday 19th September from 12pm to 6pm at over 30 locations around the City Centre.
Councillor Ciaran Cuffe will officially launch Dublin PARK(ing) Day at the Dublin Cycling Campaign Installation on Molesworth Street at 12.00pm on Friday 19th.
The 2014 Dublin PARK(ing) Day Map and Guide accompanies this announcement and shows where PARK(ing) Day will be taking place around the city.
PARK(ing) Day is a simple, fun concept.  For a single day, on-street car parking spaces around the city will be transformed into imaginative public spaces instead.   Artists, designers, urban, environmental and public health activists will create unique installations around the city that will each make its own statement in favour of more people-friendly streets.
Groups such as the Dublin Cycling Campaign, Urban Farm, See Change, the Hugh Lane Gallery, Bloom Fringe, the Gay Switchboard, Let Dublin Vote, Parkinson’s Association of Ireland, Fumbally Exchange and many more will transform Dublin for one day by creating over 30 new public parks around the city.
PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide, opensource experiment in reclaiming public space.  The event has become a global phenomenon since it started in San Francisco just a few years ago, with over 180 cities now taking part.
This is Dublin’s fourth PARK(ing) Day.  Dublin is by now one of the most creatively active cities in this world-wide global one-day event.
PARK(ing) Day Dublin is supported by Dublin City Council and is part of EU Mobility Week, a series of events promoting better mobility.
