Dublin's Lord Mayor condemns shooting incident in Ballyfermot

Dublin's Lord Mayor Christy Burke has appealed to any member of the public with information relating to an incident in which a six-year old boy was shot in Ballyfermot last night to come forward to the Gardai.

The six-year old boy was reportedly shot in the neck at an incident in Croftwood Gardens, Ballyfermot, last night and taken to Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin.

"I appeal to anybody engaged in violence, and in particular gun violence, to cease.  The incident in Ballyfermot which saw a six-year old boy shot was caused by the proliferation of firearms and gun crime in our society. I condemn this incident in the strongest possible terms and ask anyone with any information to contact the Gardai", says the Lord Mayor.
