Dublin's Lord Mayor expresses her deep solidarity with the Greek people

As Dublin’s First Citizen, I wish to express my deep solidarity with the Greek people at this very difficult time as they cast an historic vote in Sunday’s referendum, on whether to accept the terms of the latest offer from the Troika, to relieve Greece’s financial difficulties. Every Irish person is very aware of the sacrifices that come with the imposition of austerity measures and the huge life adjustments that accompany them. My thoughts and prayers are with the Greek people as they stand at the precipice of a seminal decision on their future. Whatever the outcome of the referendum on Sunday, it is my great hope that Greece will continue to contribute to the social, economic and environmental tapestry of the EU as a valued member Country.
