The Dubs have made history with five-in-a-row!

The Dubs have just made history by being the only team to win five All-Ireland senior football championship Finals in a row.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Paul McAuliffe said “This is an historic moment in Irish Sport with Dublin achieving the previously unattainable five-in-a-row in the Senior Men’s Gaelic Football Championship.    I am very proud of this Dublin team, Jim Gavin and his management team, the backroom staff and of course the 16th player – the Dubs fans who have supported the Dublin teams over many years with passionAll eyes are now on the Dublin Ladies playing against Galway tomorrow in the All-Ireland Ladies Football Final and I wish them the very best of luck!”

Out of respect for the Dublin Ladies team who are playing in the All-Ireland Final tomorrow, and in agreement with the Dublin County Board and the Dublin Ladies Gaelic Association, no announcement will be made about any homecoming celebrations in the coming weeks until after the final whistle tomorrow evening.

The Lord Mayor will light the final blue lamp at the Five Lamps, Amiens Street tonight at 8pm.
