High Tide Warning

Yesterday’s high tide at 3 15 pm included a storm surge of 900 millimetres on top of the  high tide. This resulted in extensive wave overtopping at Clontarf, flooding of the promenade and  minor road flooding. Had the tide been much higher, as it often is throughout the year, the additional 900 millimetre surge would have caused significant flooding at Clontarf.

Dublin City Council would like to thank its own crews, An Garda Síochána, Dublin Fire Brigade and the Civil Defence for their assistance throughout the day. A special thanks is also due to the public, who heeded our warning and stayed away from the high waves.
