Important Notice Regarding Advertising Boards On The Public Footpath/Roadway

Section 254 of the Planning & Development Act 2000 provides for a licensing system advertising structures (commonly referred to as A-Boards) on the public road or footpath.

It is the Council’s intention to regulate for such advertising boards. The Council intends to commence the licensing from the 1st September 2019.

From this date all advertising structures on the public footpath/road will require a licence. Any unlicensed structures will be removed by the Council.

It should be noted that certain streets are unsuitable for the placement of advertising boards due to restricted widths, high pedestrian footfall, etc. Before making an application, businesses should contact adboards@dublincity.ie to see if their street is suitable.
