Lord Mayor Christy Burke expresses condolences on the death of Bill O'Herlihy

Dublin's Lord Mayor Christy Burke has expressed his sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of the broadcaster Bill O'Herlihy who died suddenly today, Monday 25th May, 2015.

Lord Mayor Burke said: "Bill O'Herlihy's passing will deeply effect all those who knew him - his wife Hillary, daughters Jill and Sally and his many friends and colleagues. I wish to offer my sympathies and condolences to them at this difficult time. Bill O'Herlihy is somebody who we will always associate with so many of the great occassions in Irish sport, especially in international soccer. He enriched our experiences of these occasions immeasurably. He will always be remembered fondly and affectionately by the Irish public."

The Lord Mayor also remarked that: "Bill O'Herlihy also did pioneering work in investigative journalism and represented the very best of the public relations industry. He was held in genuine affection by all who knew him."
