Dublin City Council’s Social Inclusion Unit is involved each year with a number of important social inclusion events, activities and initiatives:

  • Social Inclusion Week – Takes place each year in May and first began in 2007. It aims to:

-    Highlight the work of Dublin City Council and other agencies involved in to reduce social inclusion and poverty
-    Promote an understanding of social inclusion in Dublin City
-    Celebrate diversity across Dublin City.

Other Events, Activities & Initiatives which the Social Inclusion Unit is involved with include:

  • Dublin City Age Friendly – Dublin City’s Age Friendly Strategy 2014 - 2019 is a five year plan to improve the quality of lives of people over the age of 55.

  • Dublin City Comhairle na nÓg – Dublin City Comhairle na nÓg are a group of elected young people who represent the voices of young people in Dublin city. Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place each year in October.

  • Dublin LGBT Pride – Takes place each year in June and celebrates through a series of events  which celebrates lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) life in Dublin, Ireland.
     
  • World Aids Day – Take place each year in December. Dublin City Council’s Social Inclusion Unit works  in close partnership and support with HIV Ireland towards changing attitudes and knowledge with an official launch at the Lord Mayor of Dublin’s residence and the lighting up in red of prominent buildings in Dublin City.
