Community and Social Development Service

Printer-friendly version

Community and Social Development Officers and their staff work directly in the local community and liaise with people from all backgrounds helping to build strong social networks which are essential for viable, inclusive, sustainable communities. They work to promote the development of social cohesion where everyone has the opportunity to participate in the life of the city and have their voices heard. In addition to helping with capacity building for participation they assist communities and residents groups to identify their needs and develop appropriate plans.

Staff are involved in a large range of projects annually e.g. Family Fun Days, Resident Associations, Local Festivals, Lets Walk and Talk, Passport for Leisure, etc. We support the community by providing grants to a wide range of community groups and during 2014, 934 grants were provided.
