Free Bat Conservation Ireland Workshop

Herbert Park, The Hive, Oct 25th 7 pm

The South East Area Office and Biodiversity Unit  Dublin City Council will host bat talk and walk in Herbert Park, Ballsbridge  from 7pm to 9.30 pm   on  Oct 25th at 7 pm.  This guided workshop will be given by Paul Scott, Bat Conservation Ireland. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.  Bats are a legally-protected species within Dublin City and are widespread in our Parks, open spaces and rivers and waterways.

  • The event is FREE
  • Talk will consist of expert information on Irish Bats and how you can get involved in their protection and conservation.
  • Children have to be accompanied by adults and it would not be suitable for children under 5 yrs
  • Venue is Wheelchair accessible
  • Directions …. When coming in the Park from Ballsbridge take right at children’s playground  go up a short path . The Hive is on the right hand side a wooden looking  single story building 
  • Places limited to 40 people
  • Booking limited to 4 people per booking.
  • Paul Scott from Bat Conservation Ireland is the speaker
  • You may not hear bats if weather is not suitable but Paul will bring recordings and  specimens  for you to look at
  • We will have some  Bat detectors for you to try out
  • There will be free information and identification sheets available to take home
  • Walk will consist of a short walk through the park down to the banks of the Dodder to hunt for bats.  This is a good pathway but it includes a series of steps onto the Dodder bank.
  • It is advisable to bring warm , weather proof clothing and a torch
