Hear how Conservation for Nature in Our Parks Contributes to Recovery

Printer-friendly version

Recovery Through Nature is an innovative therapy which contributes to increased retention rates or people experiencing the Coolmine addiction treatment  programme.  Participants enjoy growing their own food, the great outdoors, team work and being part of a citizen initiative to protect nature and wildlife. In the last 3 years this group of disciplined and dedicated volunteers have tackled invasive species like the Sea Buckthorn on North Bull Island and the Balsam on the banks of the Dodder.

They have planted for pollinators in St Anne’s Park and have hosted students from the Royal College Of Surgeons in Ireland to share experiences on different cultural experiences of treating addiction. Listen to Mooney Goes Wild Sunday May 15th for a special feature from Coolmine Therapeutic Community to hear about how our parks are a place of recovery.
