About Ríona

Ríona is a vocalist, composer, educator and bandleader who performs and composes in Irish and English. She releases original music under her own name and her debut album Big Straving Thing, described by The Irish Times as "finelycrafted debut album unites the musician and the songwriter, drawing water from many wells, from folk and jazz to alt pop and contemporary leider...fresh and unclichéd". Ríona has also performed with many varied projects including IMLÉ, Monster Monster and The National Concert Hall's Education and Community Outreach Ensemble.

Over the course of the residency, Ríona will compose and perform new site specific music inspired by stories that library users will share with her about places that are important to them in Dublin.  There'll be a variety of drop in events from ukulele taster sessions to lyric writing workshops. There'll be a Young Adults Band in Residence who will follow along the process and be guided by Ríona in writing and performing their own new music.

The event is free. Booking is recommended.
