Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18 and Tuesday 31 July at various times in Donaghmede, Drumcondra, Pembroke, Phibsboro, Raheny and Ringsend libraries.

Hosting many workshops for children aged 5 to 7 years and for those aged 8 to 12 years, Dublin City Public Libraries are delighted to have on-board Sarah Tully from kidpartiesireland.com. From creating sweets for the Chocolate Factory and Dream Jars from the BFG to creating characters from Fantastic Beasts (and where to find them), David Walliams stories, there is lots to keep you intrigued. Oh.. least not forget drawing a Wimpy Kid!!

For children aged 5 to 7 years -

  • Tuesday 17 July at 2.30pm in Drumcondra Library -  Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Learn some fun facts about Roald Dahl and his classic story. Using playdough, create and name your own sweets. Design the packages for your “sweet” creations.
  • Wednesday 18 July at 11am in Pembroke Library  - David Walliams Create a character. Storytelling and Crafts session based on stories by author David Walliams. Discuss his writing style and create your favourite character from his books.
  • Tuesday 31 July at 11am in Donaghmede Library -  BFG Create a Dream Jar. Learn some fun facts about Roald Dahl and his classic story.  "Mix" your dreams and create a "Dream Jar“ for your mixed dreams. This is now booked out.

For children aged 8  to 12 years -

  • Tuesday 17 July at 11am in Phibsboro' Library -  Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Learn about the writing style of Jeff Kinney and how to draw a Wimpy Kid character using the same method as the author.  Design a Wimpy Kid diary and create a pencil topper of your favourite character. This is now booked out.
  • Wednesday 18 July at 2pm in Ringsend Library  - Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. Create a character. Discover how creatures and characters were developed for the movie.  Readings of extracts from the Harry Potter books. Discuss the writing style of JK Rowling. Using various materials, design and create your own favourite movie character to take home.

All workshops are free. Booking is essential as places are limited.
