Variation to the Dublin City Development Plan 2005 - 2011 (Variation 25)

Re-zoning of land at North Strand Fire Station (junction of North Strand Road and East Wall Road) from Z1 to Z4.

PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT ACTS 2000-2006 (SECTION 13)
NOTICE OF PROPOSED DRAFT VARIATION OF
THE DUBLIN CITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2005-2011
(VARIATION NO. 25)

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 13 of the Planning and Development Acts 2000-2006 that Dublin City Council, being the Planning Authority for Dublin City, has prepared the proposed Draft Variation of the Dublin City Development Plan 2005-2011 in respect of the following:

It is proposed to vary the Dublin City Development Plan 2005 – 2011 by changing the zoning of land at North Strand Fire Station, at the junction of North Strand Road and East Wall Road:

From: Zoning Objective Z1 – To protect, provide and improve residential amenities
To: Zoning Objective Z4 – To provide for and improve mixed services facilities

The purpose of the proposed variation is to alter the existing Z1 (Residential Zoning) to Z4 (District Centres), in order to allow for a range of commercial, residential, community and social uses on the site of the current North Strand Fire Station. The rezoning would complement the area of Z4 land opposite and serve the local community. It would contribute to the enlivenment of this section of the North Strand Road and in addition, provide additional funding for a new and improved local fire station in the locality, which, pending a variation, would relocate to a site adjacent to Alfie Byrne Road.

A copy of the proposed Draft Variation will be available for inspection at the Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8 from Monday to Friday between the hours of 09.00 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. from Thursday, 7th February, 2008 to Wednesday, 5th March, 2008 (both dates inclusive).

For convenience a non-statutory public display of the Draft Variation will also be held at the Charleville Mall Library, North Strand, Dublin 1, during the library’s normal opening hours.

Written submissions or observations in relation to the proposed Draft Variation made to the Planning Authority within the above said period will be taken into consideration before the making of a decision on the Draft Variation. Such submissions or observations should be addressed to:

Niamh Lambert, Planning Department, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8 or via email to planning@dublincity.ie.
