Variation 48 and 49

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 13 of the Planning and Development Acts 2000-2006 that Dublin City Council, being the Planning Authority for Dublin City, has prepared the proposed two Draft Variations of the Dublin City Development Plan 2005-2011 in respect of the following:

Variation No. 48

It is proposed to vary the Dublin City Development Plan 2005-2011 to include the provision of two new Grand Canal Pedestrian/ Cycle Bridges as a specific objective of the Plan. A new text entry is proposed under Section 7.8.0 of the Plan as follows; ]

  • 7.8.0 Provision of Additional Road Capacity
  • Pedestrian/Cycle Bridges
  • Grand Canal Pedestrian/ Cycle Bridge from Grove Road to
  • Portobello Road Grand Canal Pedestrian/ Cycle Bridge from Grand Parade to Charlemont Place.

The purpose of the variation is to facilitate the provision of two Pedestrian/ Cycle Bridges over the Grand Canal from Grove Road to Portobello Road and from Grand Parade to Charlemont Place. The provision of these strategic bridges will increase permeability for cyclists and pedestrians to link with the new high specification cycle routes along Heytesbury Street and the Grand Canal.

Variation No. 49

It is proposed to vary the Dublin City Development Plan 2005-2011 to include the provision of the Tolka River Pedestrian/ Cycle Bridge as a specific objective of the Plan. A new text entry is proposed under Section 7.8.0 of the Plan as follows;

  • 7.8.0 Provision of Additional Road Capacity
  • Pedestrian/Cycle Bridges
  • Tolka River Pedestrian/ Cycle Bridge

The purpose of the variation is to facilitate the provision of a Pedestrian/ Cycle Bridge over the Tolka River from East Wall Road to Fairview Park as part of a new high specification cycle route linking the Grand Canal at Portobello to the Sutton to Sandycove Cycleway.

A copy of the two proposed Draft Variations will be available for inspection at the Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8 from Monday to Friday between the hours of 09.00 and 16.30hrs from Friday 13th November to Thursday 10th December 2009 (both dates inclusive).

Written submissions or observations in relation to the proposed Draft Variations made to the Planning Authority within the above said period will be taken into consideration before the making of a decision on the Draft Variations. Such submissions or observations should be addressed
