Planning Department - COVID-19 Arrangements

Section 251A of the Planning & Development Act 2000 as amended is being implemented by Dublin City Council which for the planning process is that the period from 29th March 2020 to 20th April 2020 inclusive may be disregarded when calculating any specified statutory timelines in the Planning Acts and associated regulations. The following is the current situation:

Applications received up to and including the 11th March 2020

These are available to view online with all associated documentation (i.e. scanned).

Applications received from the 12th to the 29th March 2020

A brief description of the proposed development is available to view online but not the associated documentation. This documentation will be made available as soon as possible.

Applications received after 29th March 2020

Any post received (including planning applications etc.) will be stored in date order, to be opened and will be dealt with in sequence as soon as possible. In relation to the planning online system any applications or observations/submissions received will also be dealt with as soon as possible.

The majority of staff are working from home so if you wish to contact any section please email planning@dublincity.ie giving a brief description of your query and your contact details so that it can be directed to the appropriate person/section. 

The above measures have been put in place in order to ensure that the planning system continues to operate while also ensuring the health and safety of staff reducing the risk of the spread of COVID-19 and to minimise the public health risks associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

 


Planning applications are registered within 2 working days of receipt and can be verified online by entering their address in the planning search (post 1/1/2005). The documents related to the planning application are available to view online within 10 working days from the date of registration. Electronic versions of third party Observations / Submissions are also available to view online.

Planning applications and Observations / Submissions are available to view at the planning public counter, Ground Floor, Block 4, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8 from 09.00-16.30. Monday -  Friday except Bank/Public Holidays.

The planning process is an open and transparent one.

All planning application documentation, Observations / Submissions, and the weekly planning lists are made available for public inspection at the Council’s offices and on the Council’s website under Section 38 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended. 

This information is processed in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended and is made available to An Bord Pleanála in the case of an appeal under Section 127 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended.

There are 2 exceptions to the information being made available to the public and An Bord Pleanála (paper file or website): -

  • Part 2 of the planning application form
  • The email addresses and telephone numbers  of Observations/Submissions
