Transboundary Planning Consultation Walney Extension Offshore Wind Farm Proposal, Irish Sea

Pursuant to the Planning & Development Act 2000, as amended & Article 132(1) of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 (as amended by Article 31 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2006) the Minister for Environment Community and Local Government has received information from a transboundary state, United Kingdom , in relation to a development in that state.  The proposed development is subject to an environmental assessment procedure and has potential transboundary effects.   The transboundary state may grant permission subject to conditions or without conditions, or may refuse to grant permission.

In accordance with the above Planning & Development Act & Regulations, Dublin City Council hereby gives notice that information has been received in relation to the proposed development.  The said information includes an Environmental Statement/Environmental Impact Statement.

The proposed development (UK Planning Reference Number ENO10027) is located at approximately 19km west-south-west of the Isle of Walney Coast in Cumbria, 26 km southwest of the Millom coast in Cumbria, 35km northwest of the Fleetwood and Blackpool coast, and 31km southeast of the Isle of  Man described as the construction of offshore wind turbines and foundations (up to 207 wind turbines with a maximum tip height of 222m to provide an installed capacity of up to 750MW); up to three offshore substations and foundations; undersea cables between the wind turbines and offshore substations; up to five buried offshore undersea export cable systems to transmit electricity from the offshore substations to the shore.
