“As I leave Office today I want to congratulate Fire-fighter Neil McCabe who has achieved the ‘International Green Hero’ award and was placed 2nd in the recent EU Sustainable Energy Week programme in Brussels for his Green Plan and flagship project in Kilbarrack Fire Station. As a result of this plan, Kilbarrack Station is now the first carbon-neutral fire station in the world.

I want to thank Neil for his assistance, advice and input, along with Dublin City Council’s Architects, in the energy efficiency works programme in the Mansion House, in partnership with SEAI, which has resulted in the installation of a new state of the art boiler, LED lights and solar panels.

I wish him well in his future work, I know his dedication and commitment will lead to many more improvements and energy saving measures for Dublin City Council.  He is an inspiration to us all” said the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague.
