Motorists who pay for a minimum of one hour’s on-street parking anywhere in the capital this any time this December will get an additional hour free.

This is thanks to Dublin City Council’s Christmas Parking Promotion 2013. It can be availed of by motorists who pay for their on-street parking using the Retail Parking payment option in any of Payzone’s retail agents across the city.

Dublin City Council expanded its parking payment methods in Dublin City this June with the Retail Parking payment option operated by Payzone.

A complementary offering to the hugely successful pay by phone Parking Tag service, the pay in store option allows motorists to go to their nearest convenience store (Newsagents, Spar, Centra, Londis, SuperValu, Mace etc.) which is a Payzone outlet and pay for parking.

Motorists provide their car registration, the zone colour that they are parked in and duration of stay. Motorists are not required to return to their car with their receipt they simply pay and walk. The transaction is processed in real time, which gives parking enforcers visibility of the payment made. A full list of participating stores (almost 300 in Dublin City) can be found at

According to Declan Wallace, Executive Manager with Dublin City Council’s Roads and Traffic Department, “as well as offering a discount to motorists parking in the city over the festive season the promotion will encourage motorists to try out this new method of paying for parking and also increase footfall for retailers”.
