Twenty-five Dublin Fire Brigade recruits have successfully completed their training and will participate in the Recruit Passing-out Parade at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, 15th April 2014 in the Dublin Fire Brigade Training Centre, Marino, Dublin 3.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Oisín Quinn and Dublin City Manager, Mr. Owen Keegan, will be attending the passing-out ceremony along with Cathaoirleach Councillor Carrie Smith of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown and Lord Mayor of South Dublin Councillor Dermot Looney.  The Recruits will be demonstrating some of the skills they have developed over the course of their training including an exercise in Fire discipline and Road Traffic Collisions.  The Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band will also be performing.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin has said “The calibre of the recruits passing out is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Instructors and the recruits themselves.  Dublin Fire Brigade provides a vital service for the City and County of Dublin and I have no doubt that all 25 new Firefighters joining the ranks of DFB will continue to uphold that proud service”

The recruits have undergone a rigorous twenty-seven week training programme, graduating with knowledge and practical skills which equip them to work alongside their professional Firefighter colleagues in Dublin Fire Brigade.  This training programme is divided into 17 weeks of fire & rescue training and 10 weeks of paramedic training.

In addition to their basic training, the recruits received specialist instruction in:

Breathing Apparatus / Compartment Fire (dealing with backdraughts and flashovers)

Swift Water Rescue Technician

Road Traffic Collision
