Happiness Day Exhibition opens

The Lord Mayor of Dublin,Oisín Quinn, will celebrate the United Nations International Day of Happiness in Ireland (20th March) by opening a Sharing Happiness Exhibition in The Atrium, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8 on Tuesday 18th March at 12.45pm.

In 2011, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution, calling for a “holistic approach to development” aimed at promoting sustainable happiness and wellbeing.  20th March was declared as an International Day of Happiness. The initiative came from the Kingdom of Bhutan – a country whose citizens are considered to be some of the happiest people in the world.

“I am delighted that Dublin City Council is promoting such a positive mental health event as happiness day.  I would encourage everyone to come along and experience the feel good factor of the exhibition” said the Lord Mayor.

This free Exhibition will run from Tuesday 18th March to Friday 21st March from 9am to 5pm each day and will include an evening of Happiness Day Celebration on Thursday, 20th March from 6pm-7.30pm also in the Atrium of the Civic Offices, with music, poetry, video presentations and more. Everyone is welcome.
