Our daily interactions with people around us can have a lasting effect on who we are, how we see the world and what we hold dear. Volunteering can play a big part in how people choose to spend their time, who they engage with and what issues they decide to act upon, which in turn will shape their attitudes, values and connections – with other people as well as with their direct or wider community.

Photographic Exhibition by Peter Varga. Two years ago, Peter Varga began a photo project that would change the course of his life. Inspired by the success of similar projects internationally, he began to walk the streets of Dublin, interviewing and photographing those he met along the way. The result is a remarkable series of portraits which capture the vibrancy and diversity of Dublin life. From tales of inspiration and joy to those of heartbreak and loss, all of human life is captured in these wonderful photos in Varga’s book and exhibition.

This exhibition was created to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Euro 88, with the content detailing the homecoming of Irish soccer team on their return to Dublin. 

Safety at Sea through War and Upheaval: Irish Lights 1911-1923

Irish Lights ExhibitionA joint collaboration of the Commissioners of Irish Lights and the Royal Irish Academy.

This exhibition highlights the history of Irish Lights between 1911 and 1923. Irish Lights’ overall mission of safe navigation at sea, is looked at in the context of the wider political and economic developments of the time.

The exhibition uses hitherto unexplored sources from the Irish Lights archive to present a new and distinctive view of Modern Ireland’s most critical decade.
