RUGBY IN THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS
Rugby in the community is a joint initiative in association with Dublin City Council and Leinster Rugby that co funds two Leinster Rugby / Dublin City Council Community Rugby Officer.
The primary reason for these appointments are in order to co-ordinate the implementation and delivery of integrated rugby programmes with a view to develop interest and link people from non-traditional Rugby playing backgrounds. Leinster Rugby currently implements programmes designed to increase participation in rugby, develop emerging talent and to educate coaches and volunteers in relation to best practice. In order to maximise efficiency and effectiveness. Leinster Rugby utilise Community Rugby Officers to facilitate the implementation of these programmes.
This partnership has already proved a great success among the young people of Dublin City in areas such as Ballymun, Ringsend , Cabra, Ballyfermot, Donore, creating opportunities for young children who may never had a chance to learn how to play rugby, participate in rugby development programmes delivered on the ground by the LR/DCC Community Rugby Officer.
