Rialto Area Improvement Scheme - Phase 1 (SCR : Glenmalure Park to east of Rialto Catholic Church)

It is proposed to carry out the following improvement works:

  • Reduce the size of the existing roundabout.
  • Reconstruct pedestrian crossing facilities.
  • Resurface existing carriageway.
  • Provide and improve cycling facilities including the provision of segregated cycle tracks along South Circular Road.
  • Regularise parking by the provision of designated parking bays.
  • Upgrade footpaths with granite kerbs and concrete flags.
  • Provide new public lighting.
  • Replace section of water-main and boundary boxes.
  • Provide additional trees.
  • Provide new street furniture.


Dublin City Council has engaged Main Contractor…

…to construct the above road scheme, and under the supervision of Roads Construction Division (01 222 30 66), Roads and Traffic Department, Dublin City Council.
 
Works are due to commence on Tuesday 29th October, 2013, and may be expected to continue for approximately 30 weeks (end of April 2014).  Working hours will largely be 08:00-18:00hrs, Monday to Friday.  Occasional evening and weekend working may be anticipated.
 
Access to premises, including vehicular access, along the Scheme will be maintained during the Works.
 
Pedestrian access along the Scheme will be maintained during the Works.
 
Similarly, access for emergency services, and refuse collection, will also be maintained.
 
To facilitate the construction of the Works, the Contractor will use both on-street space and private of-street lands.
 
Dublin City Council acknowledges and appreciates in anticipation, the public’s understanding and cooperation during the course of these Village Improvement Works.

SCHEME DRAWINGS

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN – COMMENTS

  1. The road improvement works shall be undertaken in such a manner so as to minimise conflicts with both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  2. Footway works shall be expected to be carried out between the hours of 08:00-23:00hrs, Monday – Friday.
  3. Some weekend working may be adopted depending on the Contractor’s Programme of Works.
  4.  Carriageway surfacing works shall be expected to be carried out evening off-peak / night time, Monday – Friday; an inbound/outbound vehicular shuttle system will apply during carriageway surfacing works.
  5. Local access to and egress from premises will be maintained during the works.
  6. Pedestrian routes will be maintained during the works.
  7. The Contractor will also liaise with premises during the course of the Works.
