Clarendon Street - Improvement Scheme

Scope of the work to be carried out

The proposed works extends along length of Clarendon Street, from the junction with Chatham Street
Street running north to the junction with Wicklow Street.

The proposed scheme includes:

  1. the excavation and repaving of footpaths and carriageway in the area with new granite slabs and bitumen surfacing,
  2. the provision and installation of new watermains,
  3. the provision of public lighting ducts and other service ducts,
  4. the installation of street furniture in the form of bollards, bins and recreational seating.
  5. the replacement of all utility covers and frames within the site extents,
  6. the provision of trees,

Contractor

Dublin City Council has engaged Actavo (Ireland) Ltd. to construct the above road scheme, and under the supervision of Roads Construction Division (Ph. 01 222 30 66; e-mail: roadcon@dublincity.ie ), Environment and Transportation Department, Dublin City Council.

Works are due to commence on Tuesday the 4th June, 2019 and are expected to continue for approximately 12 months (May 2020). 

Working hours will be mainly 08:00-18:00hrs, Monday to Friday.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. 

Access to premises: pedestrian access to premises along the Scheme will be maintained at all times during the Works.  Vehicular access will be maintained as far as reasonably practicable. 

Road Closures

It will be necessary to operate Road Closures at the  northern end of the scheme, in early 2020, to facilitate works. A Diversion System will be put in place via Coppinger Row. Only one Closure will be in place at any given time.
