The Roadworks Control Unit controls and manages all roadworks in the city. Our aim is to minimise the impact on traffic flow and maintain public safety. To this end we:

  • Issue licences and place conditions on all roadworks.
  • Carry out inspections and issue Violation Notices if required.

Contractors: Apply to start roadworks

To dig in a road or street, you must apply for a Road Opening Licence.

To apply for a licence, follow these instructions.

All notification and other requirements for roadworks in Dublin City are set out in the Roadworks Control Directive.

Householders/Businesses: Report a roadworks problem

If you have a problem with roadworks in your area, contact us at the address below to make a complaint.
