The Environment and Transportation Department provides engineering services for the city. This includes civil, structural and mechanical engineering, as well as other services. The department is also responsible for developing, maintaining and managing the city’s road network for the benefit of all citizens.

  • Planning and maintenance of drains and sewers
  • Street sweeping and cleaning
  • Monitoring air quality and emissions from industry
  • Monitoring noise pollution
  • Planning, designing, constructing and maintaining our city’s roads and streets
  • Providing and maintaining public lighting
  • Parking in the city
  • Monitoring the use of Heavy Good Vehicles (HGVs) in the city
