MediaCon Inaugural Event Comes to Dublin

A new television and technology conference will open its inaugural event in the Round Room at the Mansion House, Dawson Street, on Tuesday, 8th September, 2015 at 9am.

MediaCon brings Ireland’s first TV and technology summit to Dublin. As the global television and film industry is changing the conference will provide an opportunity to promote Ireland as a location to create programming across a variety of platforms, including digital.  The two day event brings major media/film and publishing editors, mostly from the USA, to Dublin, with a view to investing in the work of Irish writers, producers and actors.

An tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh said ‘Ireland is the best place in the world to invest in the creativity of Irish writers, filmmakers, actors and animators.  Story making and storytelling is in our blood, it is part of our DNA. It has long been said in Ireland that “An té a thabharfaidh scéal chugat tabharfaidh sé dhá scéal uait” (Whoever will bring a story to you will take two stories from you). This being the case it is no accident that Dublin is a UNESCO City of Literature. Our people, our native language, our history, our global journeys and our struggles have shaped our creativity. The power of stories become greater when they conjure up pictures and images in our mind.  Think about the challenges faced by our world today. We can use the power of the story to change perception, challenge assumptions and change society and the world”.

The Round Room at the Mansion House was chosen to host this event because of its significance as the seat of the first independent Irish Parliament. The conference will attract over 250 international delegates, including film, television, commissioning editors, producers, as well as Irish actors, writers and filmmakers.
