Freetradeireland.ie is a free online reuse service which allows its users to pass on unwanted items for free. Statistics for Dublin City Council estimate that since the National launch in July 2010 members in the region have achieved an estimated €1.5million in savings and over 15,000 items have been reused. This equates to approximately 267tonnes of material being diverted from landfill.

Community Clean-ups and National Spring Clean

Groups carrying out a cleanup must register in advance with the Council a date and location for the waste to be collected.

Bags, gloves and pickers will be provided.

Please note that all recyclables such as glass and cans, collected during a cleanup, should be taken to the local bring banks for recycling.

Bulky waste prevention & reuse

Since the start of 2014, Dublin City Council has diverted both bicycles and mattresses from landfill by segregating them at their CA Sites. The bicycles are collected by Rothar http://www.rothar.ie free of charge for reuse in their local shop on Fade Street.
