Printer-friendly version

This Friday, 23rd September 2011, Dublin City Council will open its cultural venues to the public from 5 p.m. until late as part of ‘Culture Night’ celebrations.

The Mansion House in Dawson Street is offering guided tours of the house by former Lord Mayors from 5 – 9 p.m. on Culture Night. The last tour begins at 8 p.m. and booking is necessary on T. 222 6200.

“Culture Night gives everyone living, visiting and working in the city an opportunity to experience a taste of free culture. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore and appreciate the heritage and culture that is on our doorstep and which may otherwise be inaccessible to the general public. I encourage everyone to make the most of this opportunity to immerse themselves in the wonderful arts and culture that Dublin city has to offer” said Lord Mayor of Dublin, Andrew Montague.

The LAB Arts Office in Foley Street is offering lots of free events on Culture Night. Following a critically acclaimed run at this year’s Absolut Fringe, Niamh Shaw brings her A Show in a Bag Production ‘That’s About The Size of It’ to The LAB. There will also be live music provided by three Dublin based bands – Delorentos, Little x’s for eyes and Rory Grubb and the Flood.  All of this will be happening against a fantastic backdrop of Ruth Lyon’s current exhibition Islanded In A Sea of Stars.
