New All Weather Facility to open in Drimnagh

On Monday, 24th April at 2:30 p.m, the Lord Mayor of Dublin Brendan Carr will officially open a new All Weather pitch in Dublin City Council’s Brickfield Park, Drimnagh, Dublin 12.

The floodlit, full sized, all-weather pitch which cost €460,000 will be a welcome addition to this popular park which also includes a playground and extensive tree planting. The local football clubs - St. John Bosco FC. Benbulbin United, Drimnagh Celtic, Earl Celtic, Galty Celtic, Mourne Celtic, who currently use the park will be able to avail of this new facility.

A plaque on a bench dedicated to the memory of John O'Halloran of St. John Bosco Football Club (who was instrumental in the campaign for the development of a full size all-weather pitch in Brickfield Park) has also been installed. Unfortunately John passed away before he could see this dream become a reality.

Speaking ahead of the opening, the Lord Mayor said, “I am delighted to be here to open this new facility and congratulate all those involved in bringing it to fruition. I’m sure it will prove to be an invaluable asset to the teams in the area and I wish them every success in their new home.”
