2015 Shortlist for Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction

2015 Baileys Women's Prize The shortlist for the Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction 2015 was announced yesterday, 13 April. The prize, which is open to any novel in English by a woman of any nationality, has selected the six finalists for this year's prize, which includes a cheque for £30,000 and a bronze statue called a "Bessie." 

Finalist writers this year include one American, one British-Pakistani, and four British authors. Laline Paull is the sole first-time novelist with her book The Bees. The rest of the authors have published novels before, and interestingly enough, the nominated novels by Sarah Waters, Ali Smith and Kamila Shamsie are each their sixth novels. Rachel Cusk's title that was nominated is her eighth novel. Anne Tyler's nominated novel is her 20th. 

The final winner will be announced by the judging panel, headed by Chair of Judges, Shami Chakrabarti, at an awards ceremony in The Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, on 3rd of June, 2015.
