Census 2011

Printer-friendly version

Census Night - April 10th - is nearly on us. If you need advice on filling out the questionnaire, there is a guide available at all branches of Dublin City Public Libraries.

The Step-by-Step Guide to Filling in the Census 2011 form is a comprehensive guide, explaining all aspects of answering the questions, including privacy concerns and how to return people absent on the night.

And for anyone thinking of getting into tracing their family tree, past censuses (censi?!) are a good source of information. The 1901 and 1911 are both freely available to search online, while the original forms are available for viewing on microfilm in the Reading Room.

You can search for your own ancestors, or browse the census for the rich and famous, such as Sean O'Casey, Oliver St. John Gogarty, and Douglas Hyde.
