Lego man

On Wednesday, 19 November and Wednesday, 26 November from 3.30pm – 5.00pm  at Coolock Library artist Aoife Giles taught two workshops for children ages 7 to 11 about how to create stop motion animation videos.

From flying books to mini Lego explorers, dancing chairs to animating favourite poems or phrases, this workshop gave children the opportunity to bring their library to life.

Over two workshops children were able to explore the hidden creative potential in the objects that are all around us. Utilising the library space, participants were encouraged to see the creative possibilities that are inherent in our everyday spaces and objects. During this process children learned skills in stop-motion animation as well as how to shoot and edit their own short films.

Stop Motion animation workshops also took place in Finglas Library and Pearse Street Library on Saturday 22 and Saturday, 29 November.

Below are a few of the finished products created by the young creative geniuses that attended the workshops.
