Summer Stars

Join the Summer Stars Reading Adventure at Dublin City Public Libraries!

To take part in the National Reading Campaign, children are invited to register for the adventure at their local library and to read eight books over the summer months to complete the challenge! There will be rewards and incentives along the way and an Awards Day in September in each library.

Children can write a review of the book and submit it to where they can also find colouring pages and activities.

To complement the Summer Stars Reading Adventure, Dublin City Libraries are delighted to present a fun packed programme of events and activities for children programme of events and activities again this summer. Enjoy storytelling, music, theatre, puppets shows, craft workshops and much more that will appeal to children of all ages. A superb strand in the programme has been co-ordinated by DCC Arts Office, encouraging children to draw, move , make music and write stories.

Among the 60 plus events to choose from, there are many family friendly events where parents and children can join in the fun together. Remember that all events are free and check with your local library for booking arrangements.

The Summer Stars programme provides the whole family with an opportunity to explore the full range of events and facilities which are available in their local library, such as story time sessions, children’s activities, access to talking books and games, computers and Internet access, and of course children’s books for all ages.

(Remember: You will need to bring your library card with you to join the Summer Stars Reading Challenge or if you don’t have a library card you can get one in the library. It’s free and you just need to ask one of your parents to sign the application form and bring proof of address with you.)
