PJ and MagsLaureate na nÓg, PJ Lynch recently visited Rathmines Library to talk children's books and the Summer Stars Reading Programme with Librarian Mags Curley.  If you are looking for book recommendations for children, from babies to teens, you won't want to miss this video! There is still time to register children for the Summer Stars Reading Programme in your local library. The programme aims to encourage children to read six books over the summer holidays. And not forgetting younger children, this year we are also asking parents to sign up to read six books to their babies, toddlers or preschoolers. At the end of the summer, children who complete the challenge will be invited to a party in their library to receive their award certificate.

PJ has written and illustrated The Boy who Fell off the Mayflower and illustrated over 25 children's books, including the wonderful Once upon a Place, a collection of over 17 stories, compiled by Eoin Colfer while he was Laureate na nÓg.

PJ Lynch has been very busy since he was announced Laureate na nÓg in May. We are avid fans of his Big Picture Podcasts here in DCPL.  Full of tips and tricks from PJ and his guests Chris Judge and Sarah McIntyre, they are a must see for budding artists/illustrators. Watching PJ working his magic with charcoal has reawakened my creative side and I'm squirrelling away packaging cardboard, hairspray and erasers as recommended in this recent video from Hay Festival, Kells.
