Here at Dublin City Libraries we like to offer business support to both companies and individuals through print and online resources and events. Here’s a quick look at our business and employment related e-resources. Stay connected with the world of work.
Whether you want to improve your IT or language skills, keep up to date with business developments, research an industry or an overseas market, prepare for an interview or partake in some ongoing personal and professional development the library e-resources has something for you. Plus all these resources can be accessed at any time and are completely FREE to use with your Dublin City library card. Prepare now, if you have time available to you, and be ready for that opportunity when it comes.
Infobase Learning Cloud
Check the following of e-courses and discover what meets your needs.
If you want to upskill or improve your IT knowledge, Infobase Learning Cloud offers computer e-courses on many topics. These courses come in the form of short videos with ongoing assessment and a course completion certificate at the end. All the courses are online and self-paced. There are introductory courses on popular software products to more complex subjects such as web development software and computer languages, including for example:

- Word
- Excel
- Final Cut Pro
- SPSS
There are also courses on to help you with your personal and career development such as:p

Universal Class
Universal Class offers over 500 courses on a vast ranges of subjects. You can register for a course and receive support from an instructor, access class emails, take assessments and receive a certificate when you pass. Or you can choose video mode where you can just watch the lectures without committing to the class.

- Business Writing
Universal Class also offers courses on business-related personal development which include:
- How to Improve Your Concentration
- Confidence Building
- Resolving Workplace Conflict

With courses on Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Sales Kills and Office Skills amongst many others, Universal Class really is a valuable business resource and available free from Dublin City Library. To register just use your Dublin City Library card number and complete the registration form.
The Great Courses Library Collection
The Great Courses Plus offers hundreds of courses consisting of thousands of in-depth lectures given by experts all aimed at enabling lifelong learning and personal development. As well as covering food, health and history amongst others, it also covers business-related subjects such as:
- Critical Business Skills
- Money Management Skills
- The Art of Investing
- How to Build a Thriving Workplace
The courses aimed at personal development include:
- Public Speaking
- Your Best Brain
- Make Stress Work for You
- Nonverbal Communication
The lectures are each about 30 minutes long and the courses are all self-paced with no assessments.

If you want to keep up to date with business developments from around the world or if you want to research a company you’d like to work for, then Press Reader is the resource for you. It includes access to both Irish and International newspapers.
As well as access to newspapers, Press Reader offers library users access to business magazines from around the world such as
- Forbes
- Bloomberg Businessweek
- Newsweek
- The Insider
- Fast Company
There is a translation feature which allows users to translate articles in other languages to English. You can also create collections of material and save articles to read later. Good news.
