Winner of Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards 2014

The 2014 Winner of the Dublin City Neighbourhood Awards was announced today at 6 p.m. at a ceremony held in Croke Park. Sean O’Mahony, Palmerston Grove in Milltown is this year’s worthy winner and receives an award of €2,500.
In presenting the award the Lord Mayor, Christy Burke said “This is an indication of the flourishing community spirit that is alive in Dublin. Although there can be only one winner, tonight we have seen only a sample of how people improve their communities and we celebrate the efforts made by all groups and individuals and particularly Sean O’Mahony from Palmerston Grove who has transformed a green area into a most wonderful landscaped area that is the envy of many neighbouring estates.”
Bernie Lillis who organised the awards on behalf of Dublin City Council said “the City Neighbourhood Awards are all about acknowledging in a meaningful manner the hundreds of hours of voluntary work done by people in communities all over Dublin. It recognises the work done by individuals, residents and businesses in this city to create vibrant, visible and viable communities. To receive the overall winner prize in a competition with 18 different categories is an outstanding achievement, well done to Sean O’Mahony.”

The Rediscovery Centre Ltd, Ballymun received the overall winner in the business category which included a cheque for €2,300.
