Dublin places 3rd in the fDi Tech Cities

Dublin’s position as a leading technology centre has been recognised in this year’s fDi Tech Cities 2020, where it took 3rd place overall in Europe behind London and Paris.

fDi Intelligence collected data from over 76 locations and ranked them according to Economic Potential, Innovation & Attractiveness, FDI Performance, Cost Effectiveness, Start-up Environment and broad FDI Strategy.

Dublin scores particularly well on FDI Performance where it ranked 2nd.

Dublin’s strength in the IT sector has been very beneficial in supporting the economy through the COVID-19 restrictions facilitating amongst other things the move to remote working, shopping, education and entertainment. As the recovery takes hold, it will continue to contribute positively to the city’s growth potential and attractiveness.

Commenting on the results, Owen Keegan, Chief Executive of Dublin City Council said:

“Dublin’s position as one of the leading tech cities in Europe has helped the city’s resilience during these challenging times and will continue to help as the economy recovers. Dublin City Council is committed to supporting the city’s tech eco system.”
