World Refugee Day
Published on 9th June 2023
World Refugee Day on 20 June each year is an opportunity to salute the strength and courage of refugees; the solidarity of those countries, including Ireland, who assist refugees; and the contribution refugees make to countries around the world.
How would you react if you had to leave your home at a moments notice? What would you bring? Where would you go? How would you adjust to living in a new place where everyone sounded and spoke differently?
A warm welcome
Dublin City Libraries are very happy to welcome everyone to our city and to our library service. Our libraries are warm, safe, welcoming spaces and free to use. Dublin City Libraries have a range of resources, both in branch and online, in multiple languages. Check out dublincitylibraries.ie for more information.
The Library in the Community section of Dublin City Libraries aims to break down barriers by creating libraries beyond walls. We visit people who may not be able to easily access their local library branch and offer a range of services including library services presentations, library card sign up and information sessions, one to one digital literacy training, home delivery services, pop up libraries, outreach book collections, story times and crafts, and the hosting of cultural events in community locations.
Please contact [email protected] if you would like to arrange a visit from a Library in the Community staff member.
