Dubliners Urged to Report Bonfire Material
Published on 20th October 2022
Dublin City Council is promoting a safe and enjoyable Halloween for everyone this year. Bonfires are illegal and Dublin City Council is asking the public to report stockpiled material:
- Call Dublin City Council’s Customer Services Centre (01) 222 2222 or (01) 679 6186 (Evenings and Weekends)
- Report ‘bonfire materials’ online at http://www.dublincity247.ie
Dublin City Council will carry out dozens of stockpiling raids removing bonfire material across the city between now and Halloween as part of its drive to promote a safe Halloween that all the community can enjoy.
Richard Whelan of Dublin City Council’s Waste Management Services says, “Dublin City Council is asking you to report stockpiling of bonfire material to us as soon as possible so that we can remove the material and avoid the risk of serious injury, damage to property and our environment over the Halloween period. We have received great assistance from the public in recent years and we ask people to assist us again in 2022 to prevent illegal bonfires in the city. We are putting in place an extensive action plan for the Halloween period to ensure that we remove as much material as possible to help ensure a family friendly Halloween for all.”
Full details of the council’s programme of community events, which includes the Otherworld Festival in Ballymun, The Dockers & Demons Festival in Ringsend, Finglas Fright Night and the Bram Stoker Festival in the City Centre, are available at https://www.dublincity.ie/halloween
The excellent cooperation received from An Garda Síochána is essential to the success of these operations.
