Dublin City Council goes yellow for Daffodil Day
Published on 3rd March 2026
Ahead of Dublin City Council’s monthly March meeting, Councillors gathered cross-party to show their support for Daffodil Day, taking place Friday, 20 March, in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
Wearing Daffodil pins to support and stand in solidarity with those affected by cancer, City Councillors are calling on Dubliners to go all in against cancer this Daffodil Day.
Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam said, “As councillors from every party, we are proud to stand together and show our support for Daffodil Day on Friday, 20 March. Cancer touches every family in every community, and today we are sending a simple message to everyone in Dublin: go all in against cancer. Wear your daffodil with pride, donate if you can, and help the Irish Cancer Society provide real, practical supports for people who need them most, from lifts to treatment to counselling and night nursing care. Even a small contribution can make a big difference."
Hazel Chu, Green Party Councillor and breast cancer survivor, said, "The Irish Cancer Society only receives 5% of its funding from the state and relies on the generosity of you, the Irish public, to fund its free supports to so many individuals and families around the country affected by cancer. As someone who is experiencing first hand the challenges of cancer and the importance of supports offered by Irish Cancer Society I would be grateful if you can support Irish Cancer Society in any way you can during this Daffodil Day."
The Irish Cancer Society is there to ensure that every person affected by cancer has a place to turn to, the support they need and the hope that there will come a day when no one in Ireland dies from cancer.
Thanks to the generosity of the public the Irish Cancer Society invests in ground-breaking cancer research and delivers crucial free support services for people affected by cancer.
