Dublin City Council proudly supports two Dublin soccer teams ahead of their clash in Sunday’s Extra.ie FAI Cup Final

Dublin city will be festooned with banners flying alongside the river Liffey supporting the two Dublin teams taking part in this year’s Cup Final on Sunday 28th November, 2021 in the Aviva Stadium. The game between Bohemian FC and St. Patrick’s Athletic FC means that this year’s final is the first all-Dublin affair since 2000.
Both clubs compete in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland with Bohemians based in Dalymount Park in Phibsborough and St. Patrick’s Athletic based in Richmond Park in Inchicore. Bohemians FC, founded in 1890, are the oldest League of Ireland club in continuous existence. St. Patrick’s Athletic were founded in 1929 and played originally in the Phoenix Park before moving to their current grounds in Inchicore.
Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland, said “Dublin City Council is delighted to show its support for these two great Dublin teams that are taking part in the Cup Final on Sunday next. I know thousands of loyal Dubs will be going along to support the Gypsies and the Saints on Sunday and I hope it’s a very enjoyable day for all concerned.”
