It is sometimes difficult to find our way around the health service. For example, reading and understanding a health leaflet or finding the x-ray department in a hospital. We all need good health literacy to understand health information correctly and make informed decisions.  Health services are becoming more aware that they need to communicate clearly with people and take account of possible health literacy and numeracy needs.

At this talk Helen Ryan, Policy Officer, National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA) will look at the health literacy skills we need today when dealing with health services and tips for understanding and remembering the health information we need.
