Dublin City Council and Green Bubble Join Forces to Tackle Bubble Wrap Waste
Published on 27th October 2023
Dublin City Council would like to announce that as part of Reuse Month, it has launched a new pilot collaboration with Green Bubble, to install a bubble wrap bin.
Green Bubble, founded by Peter Gregory, is a local circular economy enterprise focused on sustainability. In partnership with Sunflower Recycling which trains, upskills and employs long-term unemployed people, Green Bubble collects used bubble wrap, cleans, sorts and arranges it for repeat use – therefore diverting waste away from landfills.
The new bubble wrap bin will be located in Dublin City Council Civic Offices, where staff can deposit bubble wrap which can then be reused again and again.
In line with Dublin City Council’s Climate Action Office, its Draft Climate Action Plan and the Dublin Regional Enterprise Plan to 2024, Dublin City Council is encouraging staff to bring bubble wrap from their office or home to dispose of it responsibly in the new bin. This initiative will help contribute to a cleaner, greener council, and also to embedding the circular economy within Dublin City Council’s buildings and operations.
