Dublin City Council launches ‘Eat the Streets!’ Festival
Published on 10th June 2021
Dublin City Council’s new online ‘Eat the Streets!’ Festival begins tomorrow, 11th June, with a Cook Along with the Lord Mayor and Ellie Kisyombe of Our Table.
The 10 day online festival will continue until 20th June and brings together chefs, food experts, growers, and producers to cook, create and discover our rich food history.
The project is part of a wider programme run by the Office of City Recovery and is being organised in conjunction with, and funded by, Creative Ireland.
Cook along with our chefs Conor Spacey of Food Space Ireland, Eoin Meldon of Little Bird Café, Katie Quinn of Lilliput Stores and Dan Keane of Stack A Restaurant. You will be able to travel with your taste buds and learn new techniques.
We will also host a series of After-Dinner Chats to share ideas and talk about the future of food in our City. You will hear and learn about Sole Food Street Farms, Food Cloud, and how food shapes cities from experts here in Ireland and internationally.
We also have a series of activities for you to create and to discover your city!
So come with an appetite and be ready to discover with all your senses!
‘Eat the Streets!’ is the creation of Michelle Darmody, journalist, food educator, researcher, and former owner and chef of Cake Cafe and Slice. Michelle was approached by Dublin City Council to bring to life a conversation around food and climate change - What does it mean to eat local?
‘Eat the Streets!’ explores the answers by drawing attention to Dublin’s agriculture history as the vegetable basket of Ireland.
