Dublin City Council’s Eat the Streets Festival returns tomorrow
Published on 15th September 2023
Dublin City Council’s Eat the Streets Festival is back for its third year and will be hosted at Richmond Barracks, in Inchicore Dublin 8 tomorrow, September 16th, from 12pm to 5pm. Come join us and celebrate how we can eat our way to a healthier planet.
Dublin City Council’s Eat the Streets! Festival continues to explore Dublin’s rich food history by asking people, young and old to join us on a journey to Grow! Cook! Create! and Discover! The festival brings together chefs, food experts, growers, and producers to cook, create and discover our rich food history.
Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste said, ‘The Eat the Streets! Festival brings together families, farmers, urban growers and neighbourhoods to celebrate Dublin’s food! Come to Richmond Barracks on Saturday 16th September to help us plant seeds for a tastier future because food and what we eat define so much about us as people, our culture, and our history.’
There will be free workshops for children and the young at heart. You can learn how to chop like a chef and prepare a simple stir-fry, how to mill grain into flour, or how to turn your urban garden into a food oasis.
Our chefs with a passion for Irish produce will continue to teach us how to celebrate Dublin’s vegetable roads by cooking with you, and sharing their tips on climate action in the kitchen and beyond in a series of Cook Alongs... You can also explore your creative side through the art of plating, tie-dye, and upcycling food packaging.
A series of After-Lunch Chats will be hosted to share ideas and talk about how food can be a solution to climate change, and of course delicious food and fun entertainment for all.
Join us at Richmond Barracks to plant seeds and grow roots for a tastier tomorrow. Richmond Barracks can be reached by public transport (Luas stop Golden Bridge), walking or cycling. Please don’t forget to bring your re-usable beverage and food containers!
There are plenty of taster ideas available on the Eat the Streets website – see: www.eatthestreets.ie #EatTheStreets
