Thank you Dublin! Statement by Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland
Published on 27th June 2022
"Dublin is a beautiful and diverse city with incredible people and stunning cityscapes. On my last day as Lord Mayor of the City I want to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of the very many local communities, groups and individuals working and volunteering to make our city a great place to live in, work in, recreate in and visit - it’s been a privilege to meet, get to know and support so many of them.
While our city, like all other cities, has it challenges we have an excellent reputation for our warmth and welcome, for our culture and our character – something that has been reiterated to me by the foreign leaders and dignitaries I have met over the last year.
I particularly want to acknowledge the work of all sections of Dublin City Council and the various city stakeholders and agencies who strive day in day out to make our city a better, more sustainable and inclusive place for everyone.
It has been a privilege to represent our City. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped me particularly my colleagues on Dublin City Council, the staff of DCC and the committed and dedicated staff of the Mansion House, the Office of the Lord Mayor."
