Keep well campaign - Managing your mood

It's normal to be worried or to feel stressed during this difficult time, but there are many things we can do to help us mind our mental health and wellbeing and to keep ourselves well. Contact details below for access to various support services:

  • Libraries – information/books/lectures
  • Sports and Wellbeing – physical events
  • Samaritans– If you feel like you need to talk to someone, call free phone 116 123. There is always someone at the end of the line, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Should you prefer writing your feelings down, send an email to [email protected] and you will receive a reply within 24 hours
  • Pieta House– free therapy to persons with suicidal thoughts, bereaved by suicide or those engaging in self-harm. Ring Freephone 1800 247 247 or Text HELP to 51444 24 hours a day to get free of charge support from a qualified therapist
  • Aware– if you are experiencing anxiety, depression or other mood related condition and need a listening ear you can contact Freephone Aware’s Support Line 1800 80 48 48, email [email protected] or attend peer to peer Phone-in & Zoom support groups
  • Minding your Wellbeing– free series of online video resources to learn and practice key elements of mental wellbeing such as mindfulness, gratitude, self-care and resilience from HSE Health and Wellbeing
  • My Mind– Free online counselling sessions during COVID-19 pandemic for eligible people all over Ireland
  • Traveller Helpline– National Traveller COVID Helpline (083) 100 6300
  • Support for older people 
    • Alone–COVID-19 support line for older people 0818 222 024; 7 days a week, 8am-8pm

    • Seniorline– confidential listening service for older people provided by trained older volunteers. Freephone 1800 80 45 91
  • Support for young people
    • CYPSC– Children and Young People’s services committees
    • Jigsaw– Listening ear and advice to young people aged 12 to 25 years old
    • SpunOut.ie– Articles and information for young people created by young people on many different topics including mental health
    • Childline– Confidential line or live online chat for children and young people up to the age of 18
