Dodder Greenway Project - Herbert Park to Donnybrook Road - FAQs
The project is 480m in length. It’s a shared greenway 4m in width. It runs along the west side of the River Dodder at the rear of Donnybrook Rugby Stadium. There are two entry/exit points – beside Anglesey Bridge and Eglinton Terrace (close to the entrance to Herbert Park). The greenway will also act as a flood barrier and is the final section of flood defence to be built along this particular stretch of the River Dodder. Construction commenced in October 2022.
The proposed route forms part of Dublin City Council’s provision of circa 7.2km of high quality greenway along the River Dodder from Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2 to Orwell Park, Dublin 14 which in turn is part of the larger 23km Dodder Valley Way that extends to the Dublin Mountains at Bohernabreena. The full Dodder Greenway will link in with the Dublin Docklands SDZ (proposed Liffey footbridges) in providing north-south city linkage for pedestrians and cyclists.
The route also acts as a flood defence barrier and it is the final remaining section of flood defence to be constructed along this particular stretch of the River Dodder.
